Just southwest of Shinagawa on the edge of Tokyo Bay lies a race track called Ohi Racecourse, also known as Tokyo City Keiba. From Oct. – April the center of the race track is converted to a huge display of lights called Tokyo Mega Illumination which you can walk through + enjoy.
There are several other venues nearby such as Star Light, L-WING, and UMAKATTA Square & The Sweets Stable (hey, this is Japan, the names are going to be weird).
The light displays at night are spectacular and will take your breath away.
Also, just to the southwest of the area is the nice Shinagawa Aquarium. If you have extra time, plan on stopping in.
Conclusion
Plan on spending a whole day or so here as there’s plenty to do. The area is definitely worth a trip.
Enjoy!
